You’re Livin’ In Your Own Private Idaho!
I haven’t felt this tired in a long time…at least it’s all for good reason Friday was Robert Drake’s Land of the Lost dance party at World Café Live…it was so much fun, I’m still aching from all the dancing!…I heard so many of my favorite songs: “Rio”, “Rock N’ Roll High School”, “Blister In The Sun”, “Cool Places”, “London Calling”…the hits just kept on coming!…I had dinner there, and my server was the same girl who was our server at the Southern Culture On The Skids concert, and she was really nice…Her name is Kim, and I asked her to dance if she had a free chance that night, but sadly she didn’t…it’s ok, since I’ll see her during my working hours…I danced with a few other ladies, like the girl who works at Picnic, the cafe that’s right up the street from XPN…she’s really nice, and a really good dancer…I think it’s funny how everyone has their song that will get them out onto the dance floor, and I never thought that mine would be “A Forest” by The Cure…go figure…I danced with a very nice girl during Toni Basil’s “Mickey”, and it was really funny…It was so much fun, I cannot thank Robert enough for throwing such a great party…if this was anything like the Sex Dwarf parties, I may have to start going to those in the near future… I borrowed a whole bunch of CD’s from the XPN library, including “Drums And Wires”, “All Of This And Nothing”, “Imperial Bedroom”, “So”, “Garcia”, and “Selected Selecter Selections”…unfortunately, I didn’t know that I have to save all of the songs on to my computer (I thought that just dragging them into iTunes would save them, but no), so I have to go back and put them on again, since I deleted them from my drive…oh well, at least I got a copy of “The Pleasure Principle”, which is a really great album… Did my Gratz lesson today at Beth Sholom, for Jack’s class…it was a fourth grade class, and they actually knew a lot of the people I mentioned…I taught them about Jews in Rock N’ Roll, and how just because you’re a Jewish musician, it doesn’t mean that you have to write songs like “Fiddler On The Roof” or Barbra Streisand, not that there’s anything wrong with that… Oh, I forgot to mention…Friday was my first Free At Noon Concert as an intern, so I made coffee for James Hunter, and took pictures of his meet and greet afterwards…he was a really cool guy, and really funny too…later that day, Guster did a session in the World Café recording studio, so I helped them get settled in, and took their lunch order for them…it was pretty cool…they were also really nice guys…Later, I took pictures of them signing the wall of the studio, something that each artist who does a session or performs at the venue does…it’s really neat, and you can stand at look at all of the signatures, messages and drawings for a long time… So now I am relaxing before I leave for my other internship with Gene Shay on the Folk Show…Give it a listen from 8:00-11:00, and odds are that I will have put in a whole bunch of the CD’s that he’ll be playing… *Big Sigh* E. Lyric of the Time: She’s been a bad girl. She’s like a chemical. Though you try to stop it She’s like a narcotic You wanna torture her You wanna talk to her All the things you bought for her Putting up your temperature
