So this has been an interesting couple of days…

On Monday, we had what was probably the oddest experience I’ve had at XPN so far…Y’see, we had this girl Sandi Thom and her band coming in to do a World Café session at 10:00 am…at a little before 10, we get a call fro Rochella at the front desk saying that Jonah is here…Jack (the other intern who has been there for a while) and I look at each other and quickly run out to the lobby to find singer/songwriter Jonah Smith waiting…Jonah opened for Los Lonely Boys at the TLA on Sunday night…we introduce ourselves, and he asks where we want him to load in…we tell him that he is actually not scheduled to come in for a session…originally he was booked to do a Free At Noon concert, but that Friday is the first day of the All About The Music Festival, so it was cancelled…what I thought might have happened is that he talked to Bruce Warren (program director) at the TLA, and Bruce told him the he should come so that he can schedule a World Café session…I would guess that Jonah misunderstood, so he brought his whole band with him to the station…We never really figured out what happened, but we loaded Jonah’s stuff into an empty studio, and had them hang out in the green room of World Café Live…in the end, it worked out okay, even though we were pretty confused for the rest of the day…

Yesterday, Cailtin came over and we watched some movies and sang some songs…then we went to se Superman Returns, which was not that great…Kevin Spacey was pretty good as Lex Luthor, but Gene Hackman was better…

Today, Sarah handed me a stack of about 20 CD’s and said “Lisa says ‘thank you’”…It took me a minute to think of who Lisa is, and then I remembered that she was the representative from Epic Records that was at the Los Lonely Boys session…I showed her and her cool nephew around the studio, and she asked for my name and e-mail address so that she could send me information about Epic recording artists…apparently, that meant that she would send me CD’s of everyone from Phantom Planet to Ben Kweller to Jamiroquai to Franz Ferdinand…it was very nice of her, and I hope that I get to see her again, because she was pretty cool (even before she sent me CD’s!)

So tomorrow at 7:00 am, I’m going to be loading They Might Be Giants’ stuff into the building for their Free At Noon concert…it is way to early, but it should be worth it, since they are the coolest!

I should rest up…maybe get a yummy snack…

Lyric of the Time:
Beautiful girl, lovely dress
High school smiles, oh yes
Beautiful girl, love your dress
Where she is now I can only guess

Cuz it’s gone daddy gone
Love is gone
