California Fun Part One: “Scuff”

We had gotten ourselves together in the airport fairly early…the whole “No Liquids or Gels” thing had already gone into effect, and subsequently had been slightly relaxed from its original severity…as usual, we got to the airport with plenty of time for security inspections and such, and, as usual, we sat at the gate for a few hours before actually leaving…this gave me plenty of time to read Tom Reynolds’ “I Hate Myself And Want To Die: The 52 Most Depressing Songs You’ve Ever Heard” (highly recommended)…once we finally got onto the plane, it turned out that it would be a while before we actually took off…no real explanation was given, so we were left to sit, reading through the SkyMall catalog over and over, wondering who the hell buys the crap offered…
Five hours later, we were three hours ago, if that makes any sense…we would be in Anaheim from Tuesday until Monday (yesterday), and we got 4-day Park Hopper passes for Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure…our first day in the park would be Wednesday, since we got to Anaheim too late for us to make the day worth the price…We did, however, take in some shopping at the Downtown Disney district…We went to the World Of Disney store, Starabilias (which specializes in overpriced autographed everything from everyone you’ve ever heard of), and a few others…during our time there, I saw a girl wearing a Dead Man’s Party shirt, a harbinger of the dead-related antics that the weekend would bring (but more on that later)…
Wednesday was the day I had been waiting on for a long time…My first day in Disneyland since last August…I went on most of the rides I wanted to go on during the first day, since lines weren’t too long, and remember, the place isn’t very big…the one thing that we noticed immediately was the line for Pirates of the Caribbean…during my past two visits to
