Lend Me A Comb

Happy Whatever, indeed…

Akiba was tons of fun to visit, and I got a few people asking me to come back to talk to various groups of people about things…community service, mostly, since (as far as I know) I am the only person still working at the job where they did their senior workstudy project…

In a likewise very cool note, I am on the Y-Rock on XPN staff list, and after a few more training sessions I will most likely be a backup DJ until a slot is found for me to settle in…I’ll let everyone know when I get on, since this is one of the most exciting things to happen in a while!

Went out to Willow Grove Mall with Maxie the other night, which was a lot of fun…I got a few silly things, like a belt buckle with a dry-erase board on it, a Lovin’ Spoonful CD, and maybe something else…Who knows?

The Big Bad Voodoo Daddy show, though it eerily resembled the show we saw in Virginia (save for the Christmas Songs) was really good…however, it will be the last time I’ll be going to the Keswick…people are just so impossibly inconsiderate it makes my head spin…it might be that I’ve been spoiled by always being in the front row at the TLA, or going to nicer venues like World Café Live, but it just took me a bit off guard what total jerks some of the people at that show were being…I was even told that it was “time to roll” by a security guard before I could get a set list…jerks…at any rate, I got the guys to sign the booklet from my copy of “Save My Soul”, as well as a poster from their upcoming New Years gig at the Walt Disney concert house…I also got a lot of questions about my Fez…I was pretty blunt with my answers and didn’t waste my time explaining the Cult to the losers there until I got to the guys in the band…because they know Lee Press-On, they were a bit more receptive…I also told them about Lee’s new podcast…if you’re reading this, Lee, consider the free advertising a holiday something-or-other…Happy Whatever!…and even though Kurt (the drummer) didn’t remember me from the Virginia show (I mean, how many people with purple hair and hats with a flaming eyeball on it does he meet?), we did talk a little it about Robyn Hitchcock’s new album, of all things…hey, whatever floats your hepcat boat!

So that’s it…if you get the chance, check out my buddy Robert Drake’s “The Night Before on XPN” on 88.5 in Philadelphia or through the miracle of the online stream

Happy Birthday Santa!…or whatever…

Lyric of the Time:
The boys of the NYPD choir
Were singing “Galway Bay”
And the bells were ringing out
For Christmas day
