A Delightful Tale

I got a new phone last week…it is very nice, although Alexander Graham Bell’s phone was nicer than my previous one…this is what it looks like:

Ring Ring

it’s indeed a very nice phone…one of the reasons I picked this one was because it’s made by Sony Ericsson (and how could I pass that up?)…another reason is that it has a WalkMan feature on it, allowing songs to be blasted (at quite an impressive volume for a little phone) from the speaker on the backside…now, Cingular has already thought one step faster than I did and doesn’t let mp3’s that you put on the phone from your computer to be set as ringtones…With my Ramones and Big Audio Dynamite ringtones (for calls and messages, respectively), it was now time to maximize the limited memory that comes on the phone…there is only space for four average-length songs (and about one and half “Low Spark Of High-Heeled Boys”’s)…this is where the newest feature to this blog comes in…

I think that the songs that I choose (and I have changed them all since last week) give a good insight into what I’m digging at the time…Y-Rock has the Weekly 11,

has his Random 10 songs each week, so why shouldn’t I have a short list of what I am listening to each week?…exactly.

To be fair, I have a memory card on the way that will expand my phone’s capabilities to the tune of 1GB…I’ll keep the number of spotlighted songs reasonable, because you have better things to do, clearly…

If you want to calibrate yourselves now, this is the first group of songs I had on my phone:

Talking Heads - Cities
The Velvet Underground - I’m Waiting For The Man
Elvis Costello and the Attractions - I Can’t Stand Up For Falling Down
The Clash - Safe European Home

Now that I’ve set the starting line, witness the whiteness as I give you the Official First Batch Of E’s Tip Top Tunes (also, if you have a better name, for the love of Pete, let me know!)…

The Fratellis - Flathead
Dr. Dog - Worst Trip
The Shins - Phantom Limb
Cold War Kids - Hang Me Up To Dry

There you have it…yes, my alt-rock side is showing, but that’s all for good reason, since my very first day on Y-Rock is quickly approaching (incidentally, my first show will be cut short around 10:00 for the beginning of Modern Rock Madness, but I will make those two hours count!)

Very boring here at school it surely is, although all is made slightly better with my ukulele…Musical accomplishment of the week: I learned the Harmonic Minor Scale, around which Klezmer music is built…

Melody Gardot was on the Folk Show on Sunday, and she was as sweet as always…also, the women who yelled at me at NERFA stopped by…needless to say, I had nothing to say to them…

It’s very pretty outside, and Temple’s network is holding up well enough to stream audio and video…I sure hope these things come in threes…Oh right!…Smithereens Free At Noon this week!…Yay!

One last thing…why do things like this fascinate me?

You should only come by already!

Lyric of the Time:
So Sally can wait, she knows its too late
As were walking on by
Her soul slides away, but don’t look back in anger
I heard you say
