Metric Tons of Fun…

Monday night was the year-end music meeting of Y-Rock…in addition to the usual submitting music for adds after going through the current playlist, we talked about our year-end lists and the listener poll…I’m sure that the poll and favorites lists will be up on the site sometime in the coming week, so keep an eye out and tune in each Friday from 3-7 pm eastern on the off chance that I am doing my Favorite Albums of 2007 countdown…I think I’m doing it this coming Friday, but I’m not quite sure…additionally, I’ll be posting my list of my 40 favorite albums of the year right here in the not too distant future, so stay tuned for that as well!…

As a side note, one of the songs that I presented got added, and you can get it from Stereogum here…from New York-based artist My Robot Friend, “Robot High School” will appear on his forthcoming album of the same name…some other songs were added, such as a few that you can see in this picture of Jim McGuinn’s notes and such…

Day 112 - December 3rd, 2007

I wanna be a lifeguard...

as you can see, the new album by Stars, as well as a local artist named Jotto…some other stuff, too, but for the life of me, I can’t recall what they are…

We had our final review session in Media In Everyday Life, and got review sheets to study from…with the semester almost over, it seems like I have needed to do very little work in each class…I don’t know why, but it seems like more classes are going for larger assignments over smaller, more frequent ones…this time, I had to write a paper for my Film class about “The Sting”…my teacher had an interesting format that he required of our papers…no name on the front, but sign the back of the last page…

Day 113 - December 4th, 2007

Try not to live up to all my expectations...

…I must say, though, that I liked Mr. Levy’s “use a pseudonym” style of anonymous grading from back in 11th grade…

Coming home on Wednesday night (after watching Gus Van Sant’s “Elephant” in Film class earlier), I lit Hannukah candles for the first time this year…already the second night, we had dinner at my grandparents’ house…

Day 114 - December 5th, 2007

Take that, Greco-Roman Assyrian Greeks!

I’m okay with not getting that many presents anymore, I have gotten a few neat things so far, such as a preview edition of the new book from MiceAge’s Kevin Yee…we also got some DVD’s today at Target, but more on those later…

Thursday, since I didn’t have any classes, I stayed home and relaxed…watched some cartoons and other things as well (Electric Six were quoted in an episode of MythBusters…neat, huh?)…Dad and I went to the supermarket to get some things, and I saw that they had boxes of Quisp…naturally, we got one, and I can’t wait to have it…incidentally, I’m waiting until I finish the box of Cap’n Crunch before I open the Quisp…

Day 115 - December 6th, 2007

Alas, no Quake...

If you are unfamiliar with the Quazy-ness that is Quisp, seek help…

Friday was a fun day at XPN…even though I did not catch the Free at Noon concert with Ingrid Michaelson (whose music is a bit too precious for me), she was very nice when I talked to her…she also has very good taste in eyeglasses…Josh T. Landow (or Y-Rock fame) asked me to help him recall some of the album titles for the year-end poll…ostensibly, he knew that I am obsessive about albums and album titles, and he would save time by asking me, rather than looking up each one…a proud moment for me, at least…we also looked over news stories from the year to see if anything could be added…what can you do to make all this worthwhile?…vote in the poll when it is up on the site, that’s what!…

My on-air shift was really good, and was made even better with various snacks from Lauren that helped cure my headache…you can check out what I played right here…as I mentioned before, I might be doing my Best Of 2007 countdown this Friday, so tune in!…

On my way in, I noticed that the Lubavitch House of Penn had set up a big Hannukiah in 30th Street Station…as evidenced by a previous post of an advertisement for a local Torah study that I saw at the train station, I am fascinated by these things…

Day 116 - December 7th, 2007

chub de chub de chub...

…yes, I know it’s taken from the opposite side (that is, Hannukah candles are started in the other direction), but I wanted to get their sign in the picture, and someone had pilfered the sign for the easel on the other side…my people…

Speaking of my people, when I got home, Mom had prepared a Shabbos dinner, since there is no more store to have open on Friday and Saturday…as she reads this, she’ll probably be making a ‘boo-boo lip’, but it will all be okay…as far as how long the ‘preparing Shabbos dinner’ thing is going to last, I wouldn’t put my challa on it…Challa!

Today, which felt like Sunday, we went to Target to use a coupon…got some things for me, some things for people who are not me, and some presents for people who are not me as well…among the things for me were 2 DVD’s (my favorite type of VD’s)…

Day 117 - December 8th, 2007

Everybody loves HypnoToad!

Tomorrow, I have a paper to write before going to The Folk Show, and then I have a semester to finish…only 5 more to go!

…weird…

Or the disco infiltrator will leave
Oh stupid me, oh stupid me
But still we want it
